EN 10025-6 low alloy steel
1. Tensile test
The purpose of repeatedly tensile testing a steel plate is to determine the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the steel plate.
The first step requires cutting a small piece from the steel plate as a sample, which is subjected to uniaxial tension until it breaks; the stress-strain curve is recorded to determine the tensile properties.
2. Key measurements:
(1)Tensile strength of steel plate: the maximum stress that a material can withstand when stretched or pulled;
(2)Yield strength: the stress at which a material begins to deform plastically.
(3)Elongation: the percentage increase in length before breaking, indicating ductility.
