DIN (German Institute for Standardization)
The "German Institute for Standardization" (Deutsches Institut für Normung), abbreviated as DIN, was founded in 1917 and has a history of more than 100 years. At that time, its name was the "German Industrial Standardization Committee" (Normenausschuss der deutschen Industrie), focusing on the industrial field. This limitation changed in 1926, and the tasks were no longer focused only on industry. The name was also changed to "Deutscher Normenausschuss" (German Standardization Committee).
In 1975, in an agreement with the Federal Republic of Germany, the actual name and objectives of DIN were determined. DIN became the official national standards body of Germany.
To this day, DIN remains a non-governmental association. Specifications issued by DIN or its working committees are called DIN standards.
DIN 1025-1 I-beam galvanized steel
The I-beam series IPN, also known as INP, is clearly described in the DIN standard. These beams (structural steels) have a tapered inner flange side. There are 20 sizes with heights from 80 to 550 mm. These beams are less commonly used, as the tapered flange does make processing more difficult. The standard that defines the product tolerances is EN 10024
hot rolled steel.
