1 Basic knowledge of silicon steel products

Silicon steel has been produced for nearly a hundred years, it is one of the most important functional metal materials used in the manufacture of motors, transformers and ballast cores, as well as various electrical components to save energy.
Silicon steel products, especially grain-oriented silicon steel, have complex manufacturing processes and equipment, strict composition control, long manufacturing processes, and many factors that affect performance. Therefore, the quality of grain-oriented silicon steel products is often regarded as an important indicator of a country's special steel manufacturing technology level, and gained the reputation of metallurgical products"handicrafts".

2. Requirements for the performance of silicon steel sheets

Motors, transformers and other electrical components are generally required to be highly efficient, energy-saving, small in size and light in weight. Silicon steel sheets are mainly used as core materials for motors and transformers, and core loss and magnetic induction intensity are usually used as product magnetic guarantee values. In addition, the punching property requires good, as a functional material for motors and transformers, silicon steel sheets must be punched when used. For example, the stator core of a 600,000 KW turbine generator is made of hundreds of thousands of 0.50mm thick sector-shaped punched sheets, which requires 400 tons in height. Grades of non-oriented silicon steel, especially micro and small motors, are now mostly punched continuously by high-speed punches (300 to 500 pieces per minute), which requires higher punching performance of silicon steel sheets.

Surface and coating:

A. The surface of non grain oriented steel is required to be smooth, flat and of uniform thickness, mainly to increase the lamination factor of the core.
B. The insulating coating has good performance. In order to prevent short circuit between the core laminations and increase eddy current loss, the surface of the cold-rolled electrical steel sheet is generally coated with a thin layer of semi-organic insulating film of inorganic salt + organic salt.

6.properties of coatings
Users can choose surface insulating coatings that meet usage requirements based on interlayer resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, punchability and other characteristics.

The surface coating for non-oriented electrical steel is designated as T4 coating, you can also choose different coatings according to the actual use characteristics. For example, C3 coating (Z coating) is a self-adhesive coating. After punching and laminating, it can be self-adhesive through hot pressing. No welding and riveting are required. The overall strength of the core is high.
